Wednesday bread day: unmitigated disaster!
My plan was to make cheese bread with lots of parmesan and some aged gouda I bought yesterday. I also decided to make an extra loaf, because I love cheese bread. I lowered the oven rack to make room for the extra baking sheet, which was a big mistake. The bread was too close to the heating element at the bottom of the oven, and the bottom burned to a crisp. What a waste of cheese. I cut off the burnt part and it tastes all right, but the fact remains that today I have failed utterly as a baker. I’m ashamed. Embarrassing photo below. I’ll be back next Wednesday with some non-burnt bread.
Please leave me some pity in the comments.

Yikes! I guess you can’t quite ‘scrap’ off all that charred layer.
I find adding cheese to baked recipes often results in burned tops on the first try (I never learn.)
I think baking disasters happen to us all. You’re brave though, I would have hidden mine!
I’ve been there…your just trying to make a tasty treat when something like this happens.
I snuck a piece off your desk and never would have known the hell it’d been through.
As Homer Simpson would say, “Dough!” Oh well, cutting the burnt parts off should mitigate the disaster.
