Spring Clean Your Kitchen

Now that the beautiful spring weather has rolled in (and will hopefully stay for good), I’m ready to throw open my windows and bust out my scrubbers and bubblers to put a shine on my long-neglected kitchen. Sure, I give every surface an anti-bacterial wipe regularly, but deep cleaning — well, it’s been a while since we saw one another.

I’ve got a date with a basket of cleaning supplies this Saturday, so I thought I’d share with you my new favorite cleaning utensils in case you’re in the cleaning mood, too. (And if you’re not, maybe these will help put you there.)

Smart Sponges – The brand new Scotch-Brite Printed Non-Scratch Scrub Sponges ($1.89/pack of 1, $3.99/pack of 3) make me wish I liked washing dishes more — and I just might if I get to use these sponges every time. Each color has a fun saying: “Kitchen Sweet Kitchen,” “Get Your Clean On,” and my favorite, “World Peace & No Grease.” They clean, but they’re also cute. Can’t beat that.

Swell Smells – If you (and your nose) loathe the stinging stench of chemical-heavy cleaners as much as I do, you’ll appreciate the Glass and Surface Cleaners ($15.50) from The Good Home Co. These natural, eco-friendly cleaning products give your counters and windows a gentle clean but make your home smell delightful in the process. My favorite scent: Beach Days. Take me away, summer!

Glam Gloves – Protect your skin and nails from exposure to cleaners and water with these adorable rubber gloves ($13.95) from Elizabeth’s Embellishments. Sure, the typical yellow ones work, too, but why be boring when you can be fun?!

In the mood to clean but short on time? Check out these Spring Cleaning Shortcuts from Real Simple. They give you the dirt on doing your cleaning in a flash but also offer tips for people who want to spend a little more time spot cleaning every inch of the house.
