My skin is as sensitive as it comes, so I had to switch to all organic beauty products several years ago. Although wonderful and high quality, buying products that exclude dyes, parabens, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances gets quite pricey. That’s what prompted me to get creative and to start using beauty products that are also edible and organic, of course. The season of pumpkin inspired me to make a face mask. If I have leftover ingredients, maybe I’ll make a pie.
First, you’re going to need some pumpkin pie. You can use the canned variety, but make your own if you have time.
This recipe exfoliates thanks to the pumpkin enzymes and lemon juice, which gives a natural brightening effect. High in fatty acids, pumpkin seed oil will plump the outer layer of skin.
Organic Pumpkin Face Mask Ingredients
1 can pumpkin puree
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon pumpkin seed oil
pinch of cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
Mix half of the can of pumpkin pie puree (pumpkin puree works just as well) with the lemon juice, pumpkin seed oil, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Apply the mask and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
As seen in the photo on the right, it will look like you took a pumpkin pie to the face. However, it’s so worth it after you rinse it off! I was left with my skin feeling tightened, brightened, and exfoliated.
