We Tried All of Ben & Jerry’s New Non-Dairy “Ice Creams” and Found the Only One Worth Eating

Behold, non-dairy and vegan eaters! Ben and Jerry’s just introduced four new selections of ice cream just for you. This almond-based “ice cream” line comes in four flavors, P.B. & Cookies, Coffee Caramel Fudge, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and Chunky Monkey. To top it off, this new group of ice creams is fair-trade and non-GMO.

We’ve done the tasting work for you, so you don’t have to spend a fortune at the grocery store. We’re quite fond of the P.B. & Cookies because of the chocolate cookie chunks and bits of peanut butter explosion. The texture is smooth, creamy, and just what you want from a frozen treat experience. You will miss a certain mouthfeel that comes with fat-heavy cream, but if you’re used to eating non-dairy frozen substitutes, you’ll feel right at home. In fact, it tastes pretty darn close to actual ice cream, and isn’t that what we all want? We really think it’s the only one worth trying (the other flavors did not receive positive reviews from our tasters), but we’ll let you be the judge.

Update: Some of you asked what made the other flavors not as desirable as the P.B. & Cookies. Full disclosure: we are largely dairy eaters, so the other flavors were lacking a certain sweetness that we have come to enjoy with traditional dairy ice cream. We have tried a lot of other non-dairy ice creams in the past, and these new flavors from Ben and Jerry’s rank in the top for plant-based frozen treats. It’s a great option for folks who need an alternative to dairy, but dairy eaters aren’t likely to be persuaded.

If you can’t eat dairy there is a product called Lactaid that helps you digest dairy foods.

So what was wrong with the other ones I feel like this article was half-as’d & not very detailed.

It is about time someone thought of us that cannot eat dairy. People who do not have a problem with dairy products really don’t know what it is like to have dairy taken away. So, I’m sure that these products will taste differently to those of us who have dairy problems than those who do not. It is sad that more products of this nature are not available for us with these kinds of problems.
