Trader Joe’s announced yesterday that their food recall, due to possible listeria contamination, is extending to all Trader Joe’s Vegetable Fried Rice (SKU/Barcode 00521482) and Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice (SKU/Barcode 00332514).

The company has been part of a recall of over 350 products, including frozen and prepared foods, and that list seems to continue growing. So far, eight people in three states have fallen ill from the contaminated food.

Listeria is one of the few hardy bacterias that can survive in cold temperatures, but high heat will kill it. It can cause vomiting, fever, diarrhea, and even death. It’s especially dangerous for children, the elderly, and pregnant women.

If you have any of the affected food products, either throw them away or return them to the store where purchased.

For more information or any questions, call Trader Joe’s Customer Relations at (626) 599-3817.
