The best part about working at Cooking Light? Tasting new healthy snacks before they hit the grocery shelves. With our help, you’ll choose the best store-bought products in both taste and nutrition. Snack smarter with these new winning picks.

Half popped popcorn, you say? How can the pieces at the bottom of the popcorn bucket possibly be as good as the fully-popped kernels? As it turns out, easily! These seriously crunchy snacks, which reminded our tasters a lot of corn nuts but with loads more flavor, come in 7 flavors (Aged White Cheddar, Angry Kettle Corn, Carmel & Sea Salt, Butter & Pure Ocean Sea Salt, Brooklyn Dill Pickle, Black Truffle & Sea Salt, and Chipotle BBQ), and they’re available in 2 sizes, a snack size 1.4-ounce bag and a larger 6-ounce bag. Here, we reviewed our staff’s favorite flavor picks.

What Our Editors Said:
“Nice and salty with satisfying corn nut-like crunch.”
“Reminds me of eating from the bottom of the popcorn bag. Not a fan of the texture.”
“Yum! Love white cheddar.”
“Great crunch and not too salty, would like a little more of a cheddar flavor.”

Per bag: 130 calories, 5 grams of fat, 3 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, and 1 gram of sugars.

Popchips Ridges – Salted

Popchips have had a loyal following of healthy eaters since they first hit the market–they’re packed with flavor and chippy crispness but have about half the fat of traditional potato chips. Their all-new Ridges line, which will be available nationwide next month, comes in 4 flavors: classic salted, tangy barbecue, cheddar & sour cream, and chili cheese. These chips feel deep fried–they’re crispy and flaky–but they have 72% less fat and 55% fewer calories than leading ridge chip brands. If it’s any indication how good these chips are, we’ve had to fight off curious staff members eager to get their hands on these chips since they arrived from the company a few weeks ago.

What Our Editors Said:
“Nice crispness and good salty flavor.”
“Love, love, love how salty these are — yet with only 160mg sodium!”
“Tastes like regular potato chips, great substitute!”
“Love these. Begging for a dip, but great on their own.”

Nutriton:
Per serving: 45 calories, 5 grams of fat, 2 grams of protein, 1 gram of fiber, and 3 grams of sugars.

“Really good flavor, but wouldn’t be my first choice… a little too ‘buttery’ ”
“Good sub for regular cheddar and sour cream chips.”
